Project: Transit PSA
Rationale:
I chose the Flint Michigan water crisis for the call to action poster. Using the short and simple slogan “Lead Will Have You Dead”, I conveyed the message for an effectual campaign. The image portrays dirty, lead filled water spurting into a sink, which conveys my message effectively. Using the typeface Futura throughout the poster, I created unity and coherence. The maroon color was chosen for the word “Dead” in order to symbolize what can eventually occur if this water is ingested continuously.

Project: Theatre Poster
Rationale:
This poster was to promote the production, "The Drowning Girls". Since the poster had to be intriguing using metaphor and gestalt quality, I used separate layers for the sky, hands, the desert, water, and crows. To unify the poster I added a textured layer in the background with a low opacity to play with the overall dark aesthetic. The crows were added to symbolize oncoming death which visually gives the poster dynamic elements. The typeface chosen for the title was Charlemagne Std Bold. The production “Renaissance Theaterworks” is in the typeface Futura, and the information about the play is in Minion Pro.

Project: Threadless T-shirt
Rationale:
To represent my Indian nationality I chose an interpreted version of the Indian Goddess, Lakshmi. This image is dynamic and colorful in the way the pink cloth wraps around her hips and waves behind, thus makes the composition unique and catches the eye of the viewer. The color palette is vibrant with cool blues and warm pinks on a deep tan skin tone, which in turn create a visually enticing image.

Project: Emojis, "Angry Indian Mom"
Rationale:
Using inspiration from my own life, I chose to create emojis representing typical Indian moms. The elements, such as the red dot (bindi), are indian yet the overall style follows the typical emoji format. The perfect emoji to represent the Indian mom inside all of us!

Project: Simple Narratives, "Cinderella"
Rationale:
Choosing a 18th/19th/ or early 20th century short nursery rhyme I was to restate and retell the tale over 6 - 8 frames. I chose the tale of Cinderella and represented her using the lotus flower. The evil step sisters are represented through dandelions. To go along with the essence of the old tale I chose a serif font, Minion Pro.
